Canderel and KingSett Capital recently acquired a parcel of land near the intersection of St. Clair Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue in Toronto’s Wychwood/St. Clair West Village neighbourhood.  The 900 St Clair Condos development is the first of many tower communities that will be apart of the gentrification of St Clair Avenue West. This transformation will continue onward as the second tower will be constructed at 908 St Clair Avenue West. 

Canderel and KingSett immediately set about hiring TACT Architecture to put together a bold new design concept for the project, which is now branded as St. Clair Village Condos. The project has also been marketed as 900 St. Clair Avenue West Condos, reflecting its future address in this popular and central Toronto district.

According to the project’s most recent development proposal, St Clair Village Condos will rise to an apex of 144 feet (44 metres). The 12-storey mid-rise is projected to include 122 condominium suites with the following floorplan breakdown:

  • 77 two-bedroom suites 
  • 19 three-bedroom suites 

The project’s all-new design marks a dramatic departure from the previous developer’s plans for the site, which called for a 151-unit rental property. TACT Architecture’s conceptual illustrations for this development show a strategically arranged collection of cubic sections rising from a broad, unified base. The project’s accessible and contemporary style will be accentuated with a precast masonry exterior, currently conceived as light grey in colour. Materials and trims for the building’s lower and uppermost levels will consist of wood veneer, composite metals, and premium glazing.

As for the suites: the developers have characterized this project as a luxury building. Insiders expect the condominium units to offer premium fixtures and finishes, thoughtful layouts, and enhancing indulgences.

Specific details about the community’s amenities and lifestyle features are still emerging, but initial reports have confirmed that a total of 7,352 square feet (683 square metres) have been reserved for common spaces. Further breakdowns indicate 3,660 square feet (340 square metres) of indoor common areas and 3,692 square feet (343 square metres) of outdoor amenities.
